The Awake
作品簡介：
此作品靈感為一支深入探討漸凍人從患病之生理、心理路程到最終生命盡頭的舞作。並在故事軸線上結合童話故事《睡美人》，將重新改編成為現代舞劇場版本。以此創新⽅式，將撫慰漸凍病友與家屬，表演藝術幫助漸凍家庭覺察⾯對「真實的⾃⼰」，進而從理解中醞釀出對⾃⼰的接納與價值感。
“It is the deep of night. I hear all of the humorless and lonely sounds that I hear. Staring steadily into the dark, it is solitary and empty. My pupils enlarge as I look into the darkness....” Peng-Wei Yuan wrote by his eyes and he is a motor neuron disease patient.
My encounter with a patient suffering from motor neuron disease began next to a hospital bed. It was my first time visiting a neurological ward to attend a concert. Amid the amazing and familiar musical notes were the sounds of the cold hospital equipment. Those cruel and continuously interrupted rhythms have signaled the end of many lives.
“The Awake” immersive VR performance begins with fairy tale-like imagination. A sleeping beauty is cursed to linger in a frozen world. Leaving the body behind, there is an inability to transmit messages to the outside. The stiff and functionless body reflects a clear and abundant will.
